Mometasone belongs to the class of medications called topical corticosteroids. Elocom works by reducing inflammation, itching, and irritation of the skin.

What is Elocom used for?
Elocom is used for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. The Elocom lotion formulation may be applied to scalp lesions.

Contraindications and cautions when using Elocom:
Eyes and skin: The Elocom lotion contains isopropyl alcohol and may cause stinging or burning when applied to damaged or sunburned skin. Do not use Elocom in or near the eyes.
Infections: You may experience an infection in the treated area while using a topical (skin-applied) corticosteroid. If this is the case, contact your doctor for instruction regarding treatment.
Internal absorption of Elocom: Absorption of topical corticosteroids will increase if large areas are treated or if dressings that don't breathe are used. This is especially important for infants and children.
Poor circulation: If you have poor blood circulation, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using Elocom.
Pregnancy: If you are or may be pregnant, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using Elocom. Pregnant women should not use Elocom in large amounts or for prolonged periods of time.
Breast-feeding: Since it is not known whether Mometasone Furoate passes into breast milk, speak to your doctor and decide whether to stop nursing or to stop Mometasone Furoate.
Children: Children may be more likely to experience side effects from Mometasone Furoate. The risk of side effects of Mometasone Furoate increases when large body areas are treated, when treatment with Mometasone Furoate lasts for a long time, and when dressings that don't breathe are used.

Side effects of Mometasone Furoate:

Interactions of Mometasone Furoate with other medicines:
Other topical medications that contain corticosteroids or that have irritating effects may affect how mometasone works or increase the risk of side effects.

• stop taking one of the medications,
• change one of the medications to another,
