Buspar is an anti-anxiety medicine that affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.
Buspar is used in the treatment of anxiety disorders and and for short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, tension, irritability, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, and other physical symptoms.

Use:
Buspar (Buspirone) comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken two or three times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take buspirone exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Continue to take buspirone even if you feel well. Do not stop taking buspirone without talking to your doctor, especially if you have taken large doses for a long time. Your doctor probably will decrease your dose gradually. This drug must be taken regularly for a few weeks before its full effect is felt.

Side effects:
Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, nervousness, lightheadedness, restlessness, blurred vision, tiredness, and trouble sleeping may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Overdose:
Buspar overdose is characterized by the following symptoms:

  • Drowsiness
  • Very deep and long sleep
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Extreme decrease in the size of pupils

If any of the symptoms are present and overdose is suspected, immediately seek emergency medical attention.

Missed Dose:
If you happen to miss a dose of Buspar, you can take it as soon as you remember provided that it is not yet near the time for the next dose. However, if it is already near the time for the next dose, just entirely skip that dose you missed and proceed with the next scheduled dose and resume normal dosing after that.
